If you have checked out many sites, you have probably encountered some error message now and again. An error can occur in case the server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you have to log in so that you can see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you aren't able to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file which is not on the server (Error 404). Getting this kind of messages can sometimes be irritating as the pages don't have anything in common with the actual site. That’s why some website hosting companies allow you to apply your own error pages that will match the style of your own Internet site and which could have any content which you want - info why the error has occurred, a suggestion how to handle it or even some humorous comment. This kind of function can help you keep the visitor on the site no matter the error and the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting
The customized error pages function is provided with every cloud hosting package which we offer and you shall be able to replace all generic pages with your own with no more than just a few mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You will need to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a given domain or subdomain using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel. You could do this for every website hosted in the account separately, so that every set of custom made pages will have the very same layout as the site it is part of. If necessary, you could always revert back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. One other way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have never done this before, you can simply copy the required code from our Help article on this subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
Adding your own pages for any of the four error types to any site hosted from a semi-dedicated server account with us shall be very uncomplicated and shall not take more than several clicks. When you upload the files in your account, you could go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You could choose what page should appear for each and every error type. The choices are a default Apache server page or a page from our system, and tailor-made pages. Should you choose the last option, you need to type the link to every single page in your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page that will appear in case a user encounters an error can be changed whenever you want. In case you’re more experienced, you could use an .htaccess file in order to set in-house made error pages too, rather than using our integrated generator tool, and in case you choose this option, the file has to be placed in the root directory of a specific domain or subdomain.
